What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient healing system that, like yoga, has its roots in the Vedic traditions of India. Ayurveda comes from two Sanskrit words “ayus” meaning life and “veda” meaning knowledge. Ayurveda is both collected knowledge and practical wisdom. Ayurveda looks at the whole person, through every stage of life, and includes all aspects of living: diet, sleep, lifestyle, relationships and spiritual growth. The purpose of Ayurveda is to teach how the health of our mind, body, and spirit can be influenced by the things we do every day. The practice of this ancient wisdom tradition nurtures a higher awareness of the self and creates pathways toward a healthier way of living that will continue to pay off for years to come. |
